We, Roy and Monique Braken, live in Maastricht, Holland together with our son Rick (1997) and daughter Veronique (2009). Rick has always been surrounded by dogs. When Rick was born we already had a 3 years old, blond Bouvier named Scot.
Rick’s grandparents had a kaninchen –teckel, Nikaj. She came from the breeder ’het Mortelhofje’. When Nikaj died, the next teckel came one year later, It was also a female from the same breeder. Hayke was her name. Hayke had a litter and we couldn’t resist the temptation to get a new playmate for our Scot. Hayke’s first litter had two puppies, a dog Boyke and a bitch Bibi. Rick was the one who gave them their names. Bibi became a nice and sweet dog, a real buddy for Scot. Two years later, Hayke had her second litter with only one bitch, her name would be Floortje. She also came to live with us.
We had a lot of fun with our three dogs and so we decided, preparing ourselves well, to have a litter of our own. Everything went okay, and that’s how Bibi, in April 2004 gave birth to three puppies, one dog Skip and two bitches Grummelke and Bibi Jr. Floortje was already four months old and she wasn't interested in the puppies. All of the puppies got a new home elsewhere, and they also became happy dogs.
A few months later, we had to say goodbye to Scot. She died after almost eleven years in our lives. Although we still miss her, we comfort ourselves with the thought that we had had a really good time with her.
We are a member of the Dutch Teckel Association (NTC) and we breed according the rules of this club. Every now and then we have a litter. Information about it can be found under ‘expected’. Our puppies grow up in our house where we socialise them to be with their new family. They will be vaccinated, dewormed, clipped and they will have a pedigree.
